ASC gallery and information posts from 5th February 2024

Week ending 12th July 

 

This week both rooms have been free crafting as we come to the end of term. Making some Dragonfly and Butterfly pegs, outdoor chalk, straw bugs, and an amazing back board for the year 6 production taking place this week. You can see this in the main reception. 

On Friday both rooms joined together and went outside to pick leaves and flowers to make a leaving gift for their teachers. 

 

 

Week ending 28th June 

 

This week our younger room have been enjoying lots of free crafts, painting, drawing and games.

Our older room made some brilliant soft fabric whales and hot chocolates for the year 5 topic 'Material Madness'. 

Friday afternoon the children made their own apples boats out of apples, cheese, icing sugar and rice krispies.  

Week ending 21st June

 

This week both rooms have enjoyed a variety of free play, such as loom bands, junk modelling, painting, Hama beads and making hats.

Friday afternoon all of the children joined together to have outdoor fun making bubble snakes. 

Week ending 14th June

 

This week our younger room have been looking at the year 1 craft 'Blooming Marvellous'. They have made some brilliant plant pot collages, folded flowers and finger painting flowers. Our older room have been looking at the year 4 topic 'Journey To Japan'. They have made some great Japanese fans and a sushi craft, they have also spent time working on Fathers Day crafts.

On Friday all of the children made their own Fathers Day photo frame with a picture of themselves in. The different creations were fantastic. 

 

Week ending 7th June 

 

This week our younger room have been enjoying the Reception topic 'Plants and Creatures'. They have made some great caterpillars, life cycle spinners and ladybugs. 

Our older room have been looking at the year 3 topic 'Raging Romans'. Making some brilliant Greek vases which are on display in the Reception area, and the Greek flag. They have also made some ice creams and cherry pictures. 

On Friday the children loved making kites out of food. Putting their cutting skills to the test to shape the vegetables to make it. 

Week ending 24th May 

 

This wee our younger room have been enjoying free activities and crafts. Making bee puppets, tissue paper dresses, colourings and playing florist. 

The older children have been making black swallows, a doll in a dress pictures, oil pastel drawings and 3d insects. 

On Friday all of the children went outside and enjoyed the task of rescuing their squishy prize from a ball of ice. The children worked hard to dig to the middle to win their prizes. 

Week ending 17th May 

 

This week our younger room have been enjoying free crafts. Making masks, stencil painting, a thaumatrope and paper plate flowers. Our older room have made some lovely Tulips, watering cans, strawberry bags and daisy flowers using cupcake cases. 

Friday afternoon both rooms joined together to have fun outside making Orbeez stress balls, followed by a movie and dinner in their room. 

Week ending 10th May 

 

Our younger room are now able to enjoy free crafts and play for the rest of the term as they have finished the topics. We have enjoyed lots of outdoor play this week and have also made some cloud rainbows and dragonflies.

Our older room have been looking at the year 6 topic 'Mayans'. Making some Mayan relics and Mayan god eye weaving. They have also enjoyed making swinging snails.

Friday afternoon all of the children had lots of outdoor playtime with football, skipping, bat an ball and hunting for bugs. All of the children also made a stress ball with a balloon and rice. 

Week ending 3rd May 

 

This week our younger children have enjoyed the year 2 topic 'Nature Detectives'. They have made some tree painting using straws, a butterfly made out of leaves and fork painting flowers. They even took part in a scavenger hunt around the playground looking for items to tick off of their list.

Our older room have looked at the year 5 topic 'Tudors'. Making pop up Tudor houses and Tudor roses. 

On Friday all of the children grouped together to make jam and honey bread lollypops followed by a movie and dinner. 

Week ending 26th April 

 

The younger room have been enjoying the year 1 topic 'Beside The Seaside'. They have made some great buckets and spades and handprint jellyfish.

The older room have taken a 'Journey To Japan' looking at the year 4 topic. Making some Japanese blossom trees and fortune cats. 

On Friday the children had a free craft afternoon making absolutely anything they wanted showing off their creativity skills. 

Week ending 19th April 

 

Our younger room enjoyed Receptions topic ' Commotion in the ocean'. Making handprint jellyfish, starfish paintings with cotton buds and mosaic fish. 

Our older room have looked at the Year 3 topic 'Happy Healthy Me', making 3d fruits and peas in a pod. 

Friday afternoon all of the children joined together to explore the environmental area. They were are to pick leaves and twigs and flowers then make their own self portrait. The results were incredible!

Week ending 15th March 

 

This week our younger room have been enjoying a variety of activities such as tie dye butterflies and lucky dip Play Doh games. 

The older room have been looking at the year 6 topic 'Mystical Mayans'. Making some lovely head dresses  and jaguar masks. 

Both rooms have also enjoyed Ramadan crafts and for Red Nose Day on Friday the children had so much fun creating red nose biscuits then eating them. 

You can also view our new display in the reception area, both rooms enjoyed making their birds and bird houses for this. 

Week ending 8th March 

 

This week our younger room have been working on their gifts for mothers day and the people that they love. They have made some great jewellery, cards, flower pictures and for world book day they made their own bookmarks. 

The older children have been enjoying the year 5 topic 'Circle Of Life'. Making lovely cycle of a sunflower pictures, life cycle of a bee and mothers day cards. For world book day they made some fantastic Cat In The Hat crafts from paper plates. 

Friday was spent decorating cupcakes for mothers day. The children made baskets to put their gifts in and even were able to decorate and eat one themselves. 

Week ending 1.3.24

 

This week our younger room have been enjoying the year 1 topic 'Carnival Of The Animals'. They have made some great paper chain snakes, fork painting peacocks, paper plate cows and mosaic turtles.

The older room have been looking at the year 4 topic 'Raging Romans'. Making some great shields, and roman soldier mosaics. They have also enjoyed some spring crafts, making a cup of flowers and woolly sheep. 

Friday afternoon both rooms joined together to make tasty sheep biscuits, they also enjoyed an hour in the fresh air playing games and then watched a movie in their room whilst eating dinner.

 

Week ending 9th February 

 

This week both rooms have been enjoying all things Valentines!

The younger room have made some lovely heart snails, tissue paper flowers, valentines wreaths and cards. 

Our older room have created fantastic koalas, heart garlands and heart wreaths. On Thursday they enjoyed making Chinese new silhouette paintings and colourings.

For Fun Friday, we had a great time making Valentines fairy bread which the children thoroughly enjoyed both making and eating. This was followed by this weeks movie 'Gnomeo and Juliet' whilst eating dinner.
