Social communication difficulties
If you’ve recently learned that your child has or might have autism spectrum disorder or you are concerned that they might have some difficulties associated with Autism, you’re probably wondering and worrying about what comes next. No parent is ever prepared to hear that a child is anything other than happy and healthy and you may feel a sense of being over-whelmed and at a loss as to how to help.
Speak to your child's class teacher and our school SENCO, Mrs Vaz. We will be able to support you with advice and strategies to use at home as well as access services available in Sutton.
We may suggest a referral to Paving the Way (https://cognus.org.uk/services-for-professionals/early-intervention-and-identification-paving-the-way/) or to CAMHS. These are services which will work with you to understand your child's needs, the support which would work for them and whether they need to be referred for further assessment.
