International Mother Language Day

Today we celebrated International Mother Language Day. This is a day celebrated every year by UNESCO. The children came dressed in their national costumes or in clothes in the same colours as their country’s flag. They enjoyed a range of activities such as answering the register in their mother tongue, writing expressions in different languages, answering a quiz to raise awareness on how many different languages are spoken and guessing the country of origin of some tongue twisters. In some year groups, children made flags of different countries, researched “endangered” languages, and brought objects from their country to show to the class. It was a wonderful day and we are looking forward to the next one!
