International Mother Language Day

Today we celebrated International Mother Language Day. This is a day celebrated every year by UNESCO. The children came dressed in their national costumes or in clothes in the same colours as their country’s flag. They enjoyed a range of activities such as answering the register in their mother tongue, writing expressions in different languages, answering a quiz to raise awareness on how many different languages are spoken and guessing the country of origin of some tongue twisters. In some year groups, children made flags of different countries, researched “endangered” languages, and brought objects from their country to show to the class. It was a wonderful day and we are looking forward to the next one!

Mental Health Day

The whole school celebrated Mental Health Day today…and it was so much fun!

The children wore accessories to express their individuality and they looked amazing. They did activities in class looking at how we can use our support network to help us emotionally and how we all change as we grow both physically and emotionally. Throughout the day “Reach for the Stars” was played over the tannoy system to remind us all to reach for the stars to achieve our goals.
